World champions Marc Wright and Heather Clark included in SA Team for 2009 ISA World Masters Championships in Peru 

2008 World Champions Marc Wright (KZN) and Heather Clark (Southern KZN) have been included in the South African Team which will defend its World Team title at the 2009 ISA World Masters Championships.

Wright won the Kahunas (Over 45) title and Clark claimed the Women's crown at the 2008 World Masters championships in Peru in March. Joining them in the team of eight are four Border surfers, brothers David and Andre Malherbe, who will represent the SA Masters team for the third year in a row, Mike Brent and Dave Fish.

The Malherbes will compete in the Grandmasters (Over 40), Brent will join Wright in the Kahunas division and Fish will surf in the Grandkahunas (over 50) group.

The two Masters (over 35) members are current PST campaigner Gary Van Wieringen and 1992 ISA World Championship runner up and two time SA Open Champion Carl Roux (both Southern KZN).

Ant Brodowicz (Southern KZN), the 1978 World Champion and the coach who guided the 2007 and 2008 SA Masters teams to victory at the respective World Championships, has been appointed coach for the third year in a row.

Dave Fish, the Border Surfriders Association President, will not only compete in the championships in 2009 but will also be Team Manager. The 2009 ISA World Masters championships are scheduled to take place in Peru at the same venue where the 2008 SA Masters team won three individual gold medals, one silver and one copper as well as the World Team title ahead of 16 other nations. 
 
The SSA Board of Directors ratified the team after trials were held at Nahoon Reef in East London recently.
