The New Pier is firing, the weather is perfect and the Quiksilver Goodwave is on! The first heat will hit the water at 7am in surf that is solid and serious.

"The hardest thing for me was to not run the event yesterday, and the last 24-hours, waiting for the new swell, has been like walking on egg-shells," said Quiksilver's Barry Wolins. "Everything that Spike said has come to pass and we as Quiksilver contest organisers are incredibly happy."

Some really big sets and some exciting surfing ahead of us for the day, that will result in one surfer ending up with a R75k prize-winners cheque.

Also, all the details, entries, event history, downloads and surfer profiles are available on the event website. For sms and/or email alerts as to the event status go to the site and sign up.

The Quiksilver Goodwave will be featured on an upcoming episode of Boardriders TV, the cutting edge locally-produced surf, skate and snow show.

The Quiksilver Goodwave is presented by Virgin Mobile in association with Resolution.
