SOUTHERN KZN RETAIN TEAM TROPHY

Southern KZN retain Team Trophy at 2006 Peugeot SA Masters Championships
Hosts Southern KZN retained the Team Trophy at the Peugeot SA Masters Championships at St Mikes today (Sunday ) but they needed to pull out all the stops to fend off a determined Zululand team who when all was said and done, finished just 46 points the champions in a 33500 point spread. This victory was a special one forSouthern KZN who, although they won the title last year had to celebrate away from St Mikes as the event was completed at Durban's Bay of Plenty. This year the surf played ball at St Mikes producing contestable conditions on the first three days and 4 - 6 foot surf for the finals and a jubilant Southern KZN were able to claim a major victory in home waters for the first time in South African surfing history.More

SA SURFERS CLAIM VICTORIES IN JAPAN AND ENGLAND

South African surfers claim victories in Japan and England
In arguably the best day of competition surfing by South Africans on the international stage, Roydon Bryson and David Weare claimed victories in ASP World Qualifying Series (WQS) events on opposite sides of the globe. Bryson, the only SA competitor in the 6 Star rated R875 000 Billabong presents the Yumeya Tahara Pro in Japan, earned himself R105 000 and a priceless 2 500 ratings points that have rocketed the East Londoner into second place on the WQS rankings. On Sunday Bryson convincingly defeated Brazilian Bernardo Miranda with two 9.0 point rides in the final of the event, after overcoming current ratings leader Neco Padaratz and fellow Brazilian Victor Ribas in their respective semi and quarter-final heats.More

Mick Fanning produced an awesome display of high performance power surfing to clinch a narrow but deserved second Billabong Pro victory in excellent 1.5 to two metre (4-6 foot) surf at Supertubes in Jeffreys Bay on Sunday. 2006 PEUGEOT SA MASTERS SURFING CHAMPIONSHIPS

2006 Peugeot SA Masters Surfing Championships all set for St Mikes in August
The tournament, which caters for surfers in four different categories and features teams from all eight provinces, will be celebrating its second year of action at the famous St Mike's point break and once again will cater for surfers in the Senior Men (28 to 34), Masters (35 to 44),Veterans (45 to 54) and Legends (over 55). The surfers will compete for individual honours in each of the divisions while at the same time generating points for their provincial team. The winning provincial team will take home the Peugeot Trophy which was won by the hosts, Southern KZN, last year. The eight provinces that are expected to participate are Southern KZN, KwaZuluNatal, Western Province, Border, Eastern Province, Zululand, Boland and Southern Cape. More
