Surf Report 12th May 2008

The past week saw very little swell around. For most of the week weather conditions were perfect. Blue skies and not too much wind made for calm seas. The weekend saw very small surf and most spots didn’t even have surfers out. The low tides were best with shallow conditions and waves breaking where there were rocks. I hope you got wet or went diving or fishing, conditions being perfect for the latter.

The 15 – 18 May sees the Lizzard Nando’s Surf Pro being run in Durban. This is a 1 Star WQS event and no doubt will see all of SA’s top surfers competing. Get down and enjoy the action.

The 3rd Billabong Junior took place in Cape Town at Big Bay, Blouberg. This past weekend Chad Du Toit put on a brilliant display to defeat Rudy Palmboom in the premier U20 man on man final. The next in the series takes place at Vic Bay 7 – 10 August. Get your entries in soon!

The forecast for the week ahead looks as if the swell might increase slightly by Wednesday with light winds for the whole week. The weekend will again see small surf and cloudy conditions with not too much wind. Sunday morning looks to be the best. If it looks good – Get wet!

See you at the beach!

Johno
